Airtable: a quick intro

Airtable is a database for the rest of us.

It fuses a lot of the same convenience and usability of spreadsheets with the structure, data validation and relationships of databases. The result is an easy-to-learn tool for organizing and storing information.

Because Airtable has a JSON API, it's possible to integrate these databases with software you create. Using an API proxy, you can easily display content from an Airtable base to a web page.

You can use Airtable to track inventory, build reports from data, or keep projects organized. You can even use Airtable to prototype internal tools or public web applications. Between its support for multiple, customized views and its intuitive form builder, it can give you a lot of the structure and scaffolding of a custom app, but you can build it all in a fraction of the time.

Use it instead of a spreadsheet the next time you need one. It's powerful and the basic functionality is free.
